Premier League
The Premier League is the top division of English football. It is one of the most popular and competitive leagues in the world.
History
The Premier League was founded in 1992 as a breakaway from the Football League First Division. The new league was created in response to the growing commercialization of English football. The Premier League has been a huge success, both financially and in terms of its popularity. It is now one of the most watched sports leagues in the world.
Rules
The Premier League is played over a 38-game season, from August to May. Each team plays each other twice, once at home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season is the champion. If two teams are tied on points, the team with the better goal difference is the winner. If the goal difference is also tied, the teams will play a playoff match to determine the winner.
There are also three automatic relegation spots in the Premier League. The three teams with the fewest points at the end of the season are relegated to the Championship, the second tier of English football.
