Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) offers the BS Urdu Program as a comprehensive pathway for students to master Urdu literature, language, and literary criticism. The eighth semester, in particular, is designed to consolidate learning from previous semesters while providing opportunities for specialized study and research. The courses for this semester emphasize critical analysis, literary history, contemporary trends, and philosophical inquiry, preparing students for scholarly work and professional literary engagement.

1. Specific Study of Allama Iqbal (9027)

7. Research Work (9033) or Pakistani Adab-I (9403)

The eighth semester also includes practical research components through Research Work (9033) or Pakistani Adab-I (9403). Research Work allows students to conduct guided scholarly investigations, applying methodologies learned in earlier semesters, while Pakistani Adab-I focuses on the study of modern Pakistani literature.
